In the Finnish mythos, Kalevala, there is the Northern realm of death, ruled by a witch. Her daughter, in this song, has powers of a necromantic nature, and she awakens long-gone guests to attend her wedding. It is implied that her groom is dead as well, arriving on a boat, sailing on the river Tuonela.
